Favored by the freedom granted to private investors in an increasingly competitive consumer society, scientific advances promise to boost human being's physical, intellectual and memory capacities, even to free humain being from all his biological limits. The digitization of individual and collective activities is already strongly modifying human relationships. Such mutations not only call into question socio-political structures, medical or legal practices, but also raise fundamental anthropological questions: biotechnologies and human-machine interactions influence the very stability of human nature. Writers whose "posthumanist fictions" alert to such issues, literary scholars, philosophers, jurists, anthropologists, specialists in dramatic or video art confront their reflections raised by such a future of our human civilization. |
