Our digital offering is present on several platforms: our website, OpenEdition Books (for books) OpenEdition Journals, Cairn.info and soon Persée (for journals)

Digital distribution on our site

Since 2013, all works published by Presses universitaire du Septentrion have been offered for sale in paper and digital formats (PDF). Les Presses universitaire du Septentrion does not apply DRM (Digital Rights Management), so as not to reduce the uses of its readers. The works published by the Presses universitaire du Septentrion are not, however, free of rights. As their books are subject to copyright, Presses universitaire du Septentrion relies on their readers not to distribute their digital books on sharing platforms, legal or illegal. On the other hand, as in the case of a paper book, private copying within family or friends is authorized.

Since 12016, works from around thirty collections have been distributed on OpenEdition Books (https://books.openedition.org/septentrion/). The old collection has been digitized and put online gradually, the most recent works are distributed as soon as they are published. These works are distributed with exclusive access:

Unlike open access, Exclusive Access distribution is reserved for people who have obtained a right of access to the content. Content with exclusive access is therefore only delivered to the user after verification of this right. (https://www.openedition.org/31123?file=1)

OpenEdition Journals

The Revue des Sciences Humaines is distributed on OpenEdition Journals (https://journals.openedition.org/rsh/) for issues 337 to current. This review entered the Freemium bouquet in January 2024.

OpenEdition Freemium is a program for the development of open access scientific publishing in the field of humanities and social sciences. This partnership, offered exclusively to institutions (libraries, campuses, research centers), aims to build an innovative and sustainable economic model. All of the revenue generated by this program is reinvested in the development of open access scientific electronic publishing. For Freemium content, the texts are freely accessible in HTML format for any Internet user, and they are downloadable in PDF and ePub formats only for users of partner institutions. Cairn

The review Allemagne d’aujourd’hui is broadcast on Cairn for issues 230 to current (https://shs.cairn.info/revue-allemagne-d-aujourd-hui?lang=fr). The sale is made by number or article.

Persée

Old issues of the journals Allemagne d’aujourd’hui and Revue des Sciences Humaines will soon be available with open access and free of charge on the Persée website (https://www.persee.fr/).

Open Archives Payment Policy

In accordance with article L.533-4 of the research code, resulting from article 30 of the law for a digital Republic, for journals, the submission of the latest version of an article before publication (author file and not the publisher's published version, also called accepted author manuscript or MAA) is permitted in an open archive, without embargo duration, regardless of the editorial policy of the journal in which the article is published.

Articles published in journals and chapters published in collective works

The publisher authorizes any author of an article published in a journal published by Presses universitaire du Septentrion or of a chapter published in a collective work published by Presses universitaire du Septentrion to post the final version of the manuscript with open access on the internet. accepted for publication (final version accepted for publication or postprint, the one whose content has been scientifically validated and editorialized [standardized, harmonized and structured]) of the manuscript on his personal website, the website of his research center and/or in the open archive of your institution (institutional repository) and/or a non-profit open archive (permanent platform, accessible to all without prior registration):

  • From 6 months after the date of first publication of the contribution or article in a journal.
  • From 12 months, after the date of first publication for monographs and contributions from collective works (with the agreement of the co-authors).

During the period of the exclusivity of the author or contributor agreement, the author will license a Creative Commons CC BY NC ND (the rights holder authorizes the use of the original work for non-commercial purposes, but no does not authorize the creation of derivative works) to the article thus shared with open access on the internet.

The complete bibliographic data of the publication will be indicated on the website or in the open archive (title, scientific author/editor, year of publication/volume, ISBN/ISSN, page numbers), as well as a link to the journal or the work on the Presses universitaire du Septentrion website.

Copyright will be attributed to Presses universitaire du Septentrion: © Presses universitaire du Septentrion, year_of_publication.

Posting the article/chapter on for-profit websites (such as Academia.edu, Research Gate, Mendeley, etc.) is prohibited.
