Since their conquest by the Europeans, the Americas have undergone numerous demographic, social, political and cultural upheavals. For many men and women wishing to flee the old continent, where they were persecuted for their religious convictions, the Americas have become a destination, a place of welcome and hope.
However, the question deserves to be revisited, in order to go beyond the study of the reasons for departure, which need to be revisited, to the way in which religious minorities have managed to fit into a new society. The contributions in this book offer keys to understanding the logics of settlement in the American space (continental and insular), at the crossroads of a history of minorities and migrations.
