Since policies on employment and social inclusion are primarily the responsibility of national governments (living and working conditions, wages, pensions, unemployment benefits, status of foreign workers, etc.), both on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Élysée Treaty and in the light of 70 years of European integration, the aim is to consider the specific features of the two countries' social systems, and to grasp developments specific to Germany.
