Following the devolution of Simons' archives to the S. L. N. (revue nord'), who donated them to the BM of Lille, the authors wanted to take a fresh, in-depth look at certain aspects of his work that are sometimes little known: his talents as an illustrator and the quality of some of his texts in French. Going beyond the image of the author as a patois entertainer for the general public, this issue seeks to show the importance of this author for Lille. Described as the 'Pagnol of the North', his influence extends far beyond the region.
