Nicolas Asseray

Nicolas Asseray holds a Ph.D. in medieval art history from the University of Lille. His dissertation focused on the construction of the chapels in the nave of Amiens Cathedral, a major example of French Rayonnant Gothic architecture. Combining methods from art history and architectural archaeology, he is also interested in the use and contribution of digital tools to research on medieval architecture. In 2025, he joined the ANR ALTIOR program as a research engineer; the program aims to study the techniques used by Gothic cathedral architects to construct ever-higher vaults. Since the start of the 2026–2027 academic year, he has been serving as a research assistant (ATER) at the University of Lille.
