Faced with climatic upheavals and geopolitical energy issues, the exploitation of renewable sources carries many convictions. Acclaimed by political actors, invested by large industrial groups, supported by public opinion, it is however also the target of strong criticism. Wind turbines, in particular, arouse hostile reactions. Whether they target localized projects or the technological option in itself, these mobilizations invite us to question what drives us to engage against what is nevertheless presented as the energy future. The tools of the sociology of social movements and the construction of public problems make it possible to understand the modes of action, the argumentative scaffolding as well as the social properties of the opponents. Based on a survey spanning several years, the author focuses as much on describing a social movement under construction as the various obstacles that weigh on the institutional recognition of what their detractors consider to be a "wind problem".
