Claude Simon

Nobel Prize for Literature, Claude Simon is the author of a work whose richness remains unknown. His novels confront the experience and memory of a century with tumultuous history, delve into family genealogies and open up to the infinite variety of the world. They dialogue with painters and painting, are interested in cinema, in photography that he himself practices.

These multiple dimensions are here considered and commented on by specialists in the work, and by those whom it continues to fascinate and nourish: actor, filmmaker, historian, poets and writers of his generation or younger, whom his work inspires.

The book gathers the interventions presented during three series of meetings orchestrated on the occasion of the exhibition Claude Simon, l'inépuisable chaos du monde at the Centre Pompidou, and gives access to the film directed on this occasion by Alain Fleischer, which includes a long unpublished interview with Réa Simon, the writer's widow.
