Summary

This paper describes the plural of several types of proper names. It makes a distinction between lexical plurals (les Seychelles, les Alpes, les Bourbons) and discursive plurals (Les Ginette se révoltent). This leads to a hypothesis (which is confirmed by other works on the subject) according to which the plural of proper names can be regularly explained, on the basis of the name' s construction, as a combination of singularity and plurality.
